My name is Ruben. I started drinking at the eary age of 13. It quickly turned into a full blown addiction and spiraled out of control. I lost everything due to dependence on alcohol, so much so, I ended up living on the streets.
Being homeless was very surreal. To see what my life had become was almost like an out of body experience. I realized how big a mistake I made a long time ago, giving into and longing for alcohol and prioritizing it. Having to wake up in the dirt and having chances to remedy my problem showed me how choosing not to make a change and taking advantage of God’s will can put us outside the realm of His holiness. Walking through life with Him and trying to fend for myself in the midst of the spiritual warfare every day was a life I could not stand for any longer.
I accepted We See You’s invitation to leave the streets on July 26, 2024. I was sent to Restoration Ranch in Ramona, CA. My stay at the Ranch was nothing short of a miracle. The presence of God there is prevalent and He used my time there to do what He needed to do with me to change the life I had been livng for so long. I was able to work there and save money to give me a good start at getting my life back. Danny, Brian and Miss T run an amazing program there and give each individual the best chance to succeed in their recovery. It is not given to you, it’s real work. The faith based aspect of it implements an opportunity at a relationship with God. Following the guidelines set up there and utilizing doing the steps from a faith based perspective prove to be the calayst to overcome any and every form of addiction out there. I, myself, was asked to stay six months, which I did, and graduated from the six month program. I then stayed another two months, after which time I moved into the off property sober living home where I resided a year. I graduated from Restoration Ranch’s year program on July 27, 20, 2025. Overall, Restoration Ranch is a great program and I was blessed to be a part of it.
